Crystal is a proud member of the Albury Wodonga Aboriginal community. Crystal moved to the area with her family as a teenager.
Upon completion from school Crystal was successful in gaining a Business Administration Traineeship working for the Victorian government. This would open up doors for Crystal within the Victorian government in an Administration role for 9 years.
Crystal then went on to start a family and after the birth of her second child felt the need for a career change. This would lead Crystal to starting a career in the Community sector field. Crystal worked for a local Aboriginal organisation which unfortunately was only a short tenure due to funding.
Crystal then went to work as a project officer for HumeRics, a cancer treatment centre based in Wodonga. During this time Crystal worked with community promoting the benefits of early detection of cancers from regular screening.
Crystal was then successful in gaining employment as an Aboriginal Engagement officer with Gateway Health working with a range of agencies to provide Culturally safe support to staff working with families with Child protection involvement.
Whilst working with Gateway Health Crystal was successful in gaining employment in the Indigenous Community Support program providing case management to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Crystal has been employed in this position for the last 6.5 years.
Crystal has been as an active member of the AWAHS Board for the last 4 years and was recently appointed Treasurer of the Board. Crystal joined the Board passionate about making health and wellbeing changes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in our area.
